Having said that, since we pay extra for the screens with HB etc installed you would have thought that the manufacturers would have put a measly bit of tape on. I got the same run around with the home button on my iPhone. Just got the "new" iPad and it's really awesome, however the home button feels deeper and I can feel the edges of glass. I have a 4s that feels fine I'm just wondering if it's suppose to be like this/deeper in on the iPad. Fix my iPhone is stuck on the Apple Logo,iPhone screen went black, iOS downgrade stuck, iPhone update stuck, etc. If all solutions described above have failed, then the next thing is to just replace the Home button with a new one.

My iPod Touch and brothers iPhone doesn't have the wiggle, they are solid. I don't want my home button to malfunction later down the road, as I don't have insurance. Its a button its going to have a little wiggle in it .. Let the alcohol dry off the button before you start using it again.
My only advice is to keep trying to get the alignment right. Replaced an iPad Mini digitizer today and all seemed to be ok prior to putting the actual digitizer on. Mine is like this too, but the screen is almost perfect. Mine actually sticks up above the glass a little. The button click action and sound is different across 3 iPads and 2 iPhones I use on a regular basis. Wish they would eliminate the button aspect sometimes for that reason and make it pressure sensitive.
For some reason the iPad thinks the home button is always depressed . But after putting the digitizer back on, the home button does not work, or to be more accurate, it always thinks it's pressed. Everything seemed to work before putting it all back together. Now that it is back together, the home button seems wobbly / loose compared to the last one, and will stick in the down position, bringing Siri up.
Wiggling it will fix it, but there has to be a solution. In fact the home button is annoying as I'm constantly accidentally hitting it when holding the ipad in landscape. Hate to exchange it due to a small issue and get a worse one. Plus not sure what is the stock level at Apple stores in Socal. The home button is depressed slightly into the glass and you can SE it's not flush with the screen. There is even a slight space between the side of the glass and about 1/4 of the home button.
